> WASTED TIME ART GALLERY - Joplin
Housed in one of the few remaining Joplin single-story storefronts with old South overhang, at 1617 S. Main in Joplin (417.659.8463) I met the painter, muralist and silversmith BRYAN FLOCK ~ who also co-publishes, with LANCE ALLEN, Joplin's free arts and culture newspaper THE CURRENT, ETC, and writes music articles for them.
The gallery was as full of visual energy as was the artist who got going with the gallery about 3 years ago, after studying fine art at MSSU here in town. There's a lot to see. The person and place is full of life about the future of the arts in this region and the area's potential contribution to aesthetic dialogue throughout America.

> JOPLIN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE and ART!
Becoming a new member of the JACC I learned at this morning's orientation meeting that this amazingly active (and nationally accredited, by the way) organization has two standing committees where art might be involved with enhancing the visual look and feel of our town.
VISION 2020 - implementing recommendations of the Vision Joplin master plan for all sectors including arts and culture.
COMMUNITY ENHANCEMENT - improving the appearance of residential, business and public areas "... that encourage Joplin community beautification and asethetic preservation..."
I'll be getting involved with Community Enhancement for starters, and am very excited about the possibilities and role visual art might chance to play from time to time.
